After looking at some old threads regarding the issues related with powdercoating the engine cradle, I was just curious if anyone has attempted to cerakote the cradle?

Ive used cerakote on some areas on my current project (Suzuki GT750) where I considered powdercoating to be too thick. Its fantastic and extremely thin and just as durable I believe.

Can you apply the Cerakote yourself, or do you have to send the part to an application specialist?

I suppose if you had a big enough and hot enough oven you could do it yourself, but I know nothing of any safety measures in the application of it.

Also consider electroless nickel plating, which gives very uniform coverage on more complex shapes, unlike electrolytic plating.
The company I worked for used to have a lot of parts that were subject to wet conditions plated in this way.
